The Motorola modem & router is a design that was created to accommodate both cable modems and motor / router combination products.  It is currently one of the most purchased Motorola modem / router designs which is used on 10 different router / modem / landline combinations.  Our goal was to capture the essence of the Motorola visual brand with a router design that is low cost, unobtrusive, and adaptable to different product skews / sizes. The result is a minimal design that embraces two key shapes, the circle shape and the pill shape.  We had to create as much venting as possible in order to accommodate different heat flow requirements and we did this primarily through the sides and top of the device leaving the front clean with a pill shaped lens that encompasses the brand and the device status.
